Live Fish of the Missouri River Tanks

Fly Fishing and Fly Tying Demonstrations
The Cornhusker Fly Fishers and the Sioux City Fly Fishing Association provide hands-on demonstrations on fly casting, tying, equipment, and much more. Located at the Fish Pond near the Resource and Education Center.
Fish Cleaning and Cooking Demonstration
Learn how to clean and cook freshwater fish, including panfish, buffalo carp, catfish, and more. Free samples provided.
Missouri River Tours
Representatives from the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, National Park Service, and other volunteers will be on hand to provide half-hour boat tours of the Missouri National Recreational River. Learn about the natural and cultural history of one of the last remaining sections of unchannelized Missouri River. Located at the north end of Riverfront Exhibition Area.
Fossil and Treasure Dig
Look for real fossils and treasure buried in the sand. Learn the techniques used by paleontologists and archeologists. Learn facts about fossils and artifacts found in Ponca State Park and Nebraska. A great activity for little kids. Located at the Resource and Education Center.
See, touch, and feel a variety of critters found in the area. Includes demonstrations of live animals such as snakes, frogs, turtles, and many other critters courtesy of the Dennis Ferraro from the University of Nebraska and Ponca State Park. Located at the Resource and Education Center.
Kid’s Horse Rides
Learn what it is like to ride a horse! Experienced wranglers will lead kids on horseback through a short course.
Campfire Cooking for Kid’s
Kid’s will learn how to make and eat campfire treats such as S’mores, fruit pies, hotdogs, marshmallows, and popcorn.
Families can learn first-hand different tent styles for a variety of camping situations. Tents ranging from one-person to 12-person will be setup for display. Tents will also be available for families to learn basic tent setup and take-down.
Regional scouts troops will demonstrate equipment, tents, activities, and outdoor skills used during a camp outing.
Families will learn how to play a variety of outdoor games including washers, goofy golf, bean bag toss, and many others.

A rock climbing wall will be on-hand both days to provide kids and adults with the opportunity to learn the basics of rock climbing.
Canoeing and Kayaking
Learn the introductory skills of canoeing and kayaking. Participants can learn their skills in a backwater area on the Missouri River.
Early 1800’s Encampment
A mock 1800’s encampment will have ongoing demonstrations including fire starting, flint knapping, blacksmithing, bow making, black powder muzzleloading, and much more. Located at the Riverfront Exhibition Area.
SANDS - Sportsmen Assisting Nebraska's Disabled Sportsmen
SANDS is a grassroots program co-founded by Dave Burgess and provides a means for individuals with disabilities to link up with able-bodied outdoor enthusiasts to participate in outdoor activities like hunting and fishing.

Big Game Camp
Come experience the atmosphere of a big game camp. Visitors will have an opportunity to sit down by the campfire with a cup of coffee and discuss hunting in Nebraska with NGPC wildlife biologists and veteran hunters. Located at the Riverfront Exhibition Area.
Live Upland Game and Habitat Display
Live upland game birds of Nebraska will be displayed within a simulated habitat enclosure. NGPC biologists and Pheasants Forever representatives will be available to discuss land management practices including food plot management, prescribed burning, and other types of habitat development.

Wildlife Management, Private Lands and Public Hunting
Learn how to manage habitat for wildlife on your own land. Experts answer questions about wildlife, habitat management, and private lands work. The Duck Blind
Learn how to call waterfowl, decoy arrangement, building a blind, waterfowl ID, and much more. Sponsored by Ducks Unlimited
Learn about the natural history of the wild turkey along with tips on how to call and hunt them. Learn about managing for turkey on your property. Sponsored by the National Wild Turkey Federation.
Extend your hunting season and the time you spend outdoors. Learn how to use different types of archery equipment, shoot different types of bows (traditional and modern), and see demonstrations of bow hunting equipment and techniques. This year there will be a Beginners Range, Intermediate Range, Advanced Range and Aerial Range. Located near the entrance to the Shooters Village.
Novice or first-time shooters are instructed in safe gun handling and muzzle control and have a chance to shoot clay targets in a non-intimidating atmosphere under the supervision of certified Hunter Safety instructor and certified NRA Shotgun instructors. Slow, going away and incoming targets are the primary focus of this instruction. Located near the entrance to the Shooters Village.
Gun representatives from Beretta, Benelli, and Browning/Winchester will provide shooters an opportunity to shoot some of the finest guns on the market. Located near the entrance to the Shooters Village.
Learn how to shoot these age-old "smoke poles." Members of the Hawkeye Shooting Club will be on hand to teach the basics of these traditional firearms. Located near the entrance to the Shooters Village.
Sling-Shot, Tomahawk and Atl-Atl
An age-old shooting activity for all ages. Located near the entrance to the Shooters Village.
Representatives from various national muzzleloading companies will allow visitors to try/shoot their newest gun models. Once you "gong" a target and smell the smoke, you will be hooked. Located within the Shooter’s Village.
Indoor Youth Pellet Gun Range
An indoor pellet gun facility was built in 2008 with funding from the Nebraska and Iowa Friends of the NRA. Youth and adults can shoot at a variety of interactive targets. Instructors for this range are provided by Hawkeye Shooting Club and 4-H Shooting Sports. Located within the Shooter’s Village.
.22 Long Rifle Range
This hands-on range provides shooters with a great introduction to shooting a modern rifle. Instructors will provide information on gun safety and rifle shooting techniques. Rifles for this range are provided by Union County (SD) Pheasants Forever Chapter. Located within the Shooter’s Village.
Ammunition and equipment for all shooting sports activities is provided by the Nebraska and Iowa Friends of the NRA and Pheasants Forever.
